Form I9's Glow Up - What you need you need to know

August 1st, 2023 USCIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services) released the new Form I9. As you can suspect the idea behind the make over is to simplify the process for employers and employees, but I would guess that there will more questions than answers after the new forms go into effect. The new Form I9 goes into effect 11/01/2023 and will expire in July of 2026. Now is the best time to make sure that you and your team onboarding new employees are familiar with the changes and the form itself. The fines related to the improper I9 completion and hiring unauthorized workers range from $575.00 per offense to $22,927.00! Some key changes are the reduction in the number of pages (this includes instructions, meaning there is less direction and clarity), section 3 Reverification is now a supplemental document (don't know about that, don't feel bad, even seasoned HR professionals are confused on that one) and the ability to examine documents remotely (you must participate in E-Verify and follow the authorized procedure).

Folks, if any of this is confusing or if you just need a little direction. I am here to help!!! Book a free consultation today!!!
